Norman Vincent Peale

Norman Vincent Peale: “When life hands you a lemon, make lemonade.”

Norman Vincent Peale, who coined the know famous phrase "When life hands you a lemon, make lemonade."

Norman Vincent Peale was a minister and author. He assured his readers that a Higher Power can do everything for the modern individual, including driving out fear, hate, sickness, weakness and moral defects and reviving the soul with health, happiness, and goodness.

In 1937 Peale founded a counseling clinic which, in 1951, became known as the American Foundation for Religion and Psychiatry. In 1972 it merged with the Academy of Religion and Mental Heath to become the Institutes of Religion and Health (IRH).

Today, New Thought and New Age have lost most of their appeal. More secular and less spiritual forms of self help, like those discussed in the Treating trace, have taken over.
