NDEA and Student Unrest

Later, the expansion of social sciences and the humanities were also funded unter the NDEA. In the course of the sixties and as an effect of the NDEA the college population grew dramatically, as shown by the chart at left. 


The student protest of the late sixties took up the rhetoric of anticonformism and democracy, as the "Port Huron Statement" of the Students for A Democratic Society (SDS) from 1962 shows.
